Bedford Guru Nanak Gurdwara (Sikh Temple)

I had the honour of hosting 3 art workshops for children (aged 7 to 15) taking part in the Sikh Summer Camp at Bedford Guru Nanak Gurdwara.
I was a child that grew up as part of the local Gurdwara community,  and participatory art wasn't something that was included in that space at that time.

I grew up feeling that my faith and my identity wasn't appropriate to share outside of the Sikh community, and that artistic expression wasn't something to invest in, or be proud of.

It was so beautiful to be able to share the expansive interpretation of what art can be with the children, and give them a non judgemental space to share what is important to them, what they believe in, or just what feels good.
