I was invited to run a workshop titled ‘The Art of Happiness’ in partnership with Arts in Ramsgate and Discovery Planet. I designed a session where participants were invited to come together in welcoming and soothing space, to explore their ideas, dreams, and memories of Joy and happiness.
I did this through:
A nourishment table for healthy snacking, drinking, and most important of all, nutritious conversation, and contemplation.
A community flower mandala
An altar to set intentions and think about and offer gratitude for our joys
…and some mindful embodiment techniques that include essential oil, candlelight, and journaling.
It was a beautiful reminder of how important community spaces are. Spaces where people can congregate without any expectations. Without having to spend money. Places they can feel safe, comfortable, creative, and cared for.
The Art of Feeling Good
I had the privilege to hear some precious stories from members of the Ramsgate community, and the honour to watch the mandala grow with each person (toddler and dog) that came in and put their energy into it.
The altar and the intentions shared, both anonymously and through conversation, were such a blessing too.
The ginger and lemon tea, and the cucumber and mint infused water went down a treat, and so did the orange essential oil.
The mandala remained in the window for the next week, to add a bit of colour and joy to passers by.
